Seven New Partners - June 2010

Tughans, one of Belfast’s leading law firms, has recently announced the appointment of seven new partners. These appointments reflect the ongoing development of Tughans three-year plan and investment within the firm.

The new partners include:
 
Banking - Fearghal OLoan
Fearghal is head of finance and restructuring at Tughans and leads a growing and active department. The department’s focus is on all aspects of financial restructurings and secured and unsecured lending including acquisition finance, asset finance, property finance and securitisation. The department also has a broad range of experience in dealing with multi-jurisdictional and cross border financing and security.
 
Restructuring & Insolvency - Toby McMurray
As head of insolvency, Toby advises insolvency practitioners, financial institutions, businesses, directors and creditors on all issues relating to corporate and personal insolvency situations. He is currently involved in number of Northern Ireland’s largest insolvencies including a number of administrations of trading companies.
 
Employment - Ciara Dooris
Ciara trained with a large Dublin law firm and worked there for five years prior to joining the employment team in Tughans in January 2007. Ciara advises on all aspects of employment law, both contentious and non-contentious, for public and private sector clients. She also provides advisory and training services to clients and corporate support. Ciara is qualified to advise in both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
 
Property - David McDonnell
David specialises in commercial property law and advises landlords and tenants on commercial leases. He also advises on the sale and purchase of commercial property in England and Wales and regularly advises banks and lending institutions in relation to matters in Northern Ireland, England and Wales. David is a graduate of Queens University Belfast and The College of Law, Chester. He qualified at Cobbetts LLP, Manchester and joined Tughans upon qualification.
 
Corporate - James Donnelly & Vicky Dummigan
James & Vicky are involved in corporate work and have extensive experience of advising on mergers and acquisitions, management buyouts, venture capital funding projects and group restructurings. They advise on mainstream corporate issues such as shareholder agreements, joint ventures and corporate governance. James & Vicky both act for clients across a range of sectors including food, technology, facilities management and construction and have been involved in a number of high profile corporate transactions in Northern Ireland in recent years.
 
Environment & Planning - Andrew Ryan
Andrew Ryan specialises in Environment and Planning law and advises on a wide range of issues including environmental permitting, planning and environmental appeals, waste regulation and brownfield development both in Northern Ireland and England. He worked in the Environment Group of a major City of London firm before moving to Belfast in 2006, and was previously employed by the Environment Agency in England. Andrew acts for clients from sectors including property development, waste management, manufacturing, agriculture, banking and renewable energy.
