Kathy McGillie graduated from Queen’s University, Belfast in 1995 and qualified as a Solicitor in 1997. She has a post graduate certificate in Alternative Dispute Resolution/Mediation. She joined Tughans in 2000 and became a Partner in 2003.
Kathy advises and represents a range of clients including insurance companies, public bodies and companies. Her main focus is defending claims involving employers' liability, public liability, product liability, motor liability and professional negligence. In addition, she advises clients on policy wording and where fraud is suspected.
She is experienced in handling complex litigation and high value cases involving injuries of the utmost severity. She has expertise in conducting occupational disease cases including those arising from exposure to noxious substances to include asbestos, industrial deafness and dermatitis. She has defended environmental prosecutions and has dealt with claims arising from pollutant escape.
Kathy frequently delivers seminars on a range of topics primarily covering health and safety in the workplace and related issues. She has considerable experience conducting health and safety investigations and any prosecutions and claims arising.
