Toby McMurray qualified as a lawyer in 2004 and joined Tughans in 2005 as a member of the Commercial Litigation Team. He became a Partner in April 2010.

Toby is Head of the Insolvency Team and his experience in this field is extensive. He advises insolvency practitioners, financial institutions, businesses, directors and creditors on all issues relating to both corporate and personal insolvency.  Most recently he has been instructed in some of Northern Ireland’s largest administrations involving trading companies, which included advice concerning pre-pack sales, the validity and enforceability of security, retention of title and issues concerning cross-border insolvency.

Toby works closely with Fearghal O’Loan who heads the Restructuring Team, in order to provide a seamless service and solution through insolvency, restructuring and recovery.

Toby also has a breadth of experience in commercial litigation. He has particular expertise in shareholder disputes, breach of directors’ fiduciary duty claims, Section 994 Companies Act Petitions, share sale warranty claims and civil fraud claims.
