On 1 April, the firm was pleased to announce the appointment of Ian Coulter as its new Managing Partner. Born in Co Antrim, Ian attended university in England and qualified as a solicitor with City of London Firm Mayer Brown Rowe & Maw. He returned to Northern Ireland and joined the corporate department at Tughans in 1997, becoming a partner in 2001. A specialist in mergers and acquisitions, particularly those with multi-jurisdictional elements, Ian also has considerable experience in management buy-outs and buy-ins and in institutional / private equity leveraged deals. He acts as company secretary for several information technology clients and also for Momentum (The Northern Ireland ICT Federation). More generally Ian is a visiting lecturer in Company Law at the Institute for Legal Studies, Belfast and is a leading member of Pro-Help, a Northern Ireland pro-bono organisation. He is also a member of the Northern Irish council for the CBI. At 38, Ian becomes Tughans’ youngest ever Managing Partner. |
