The practice recently appointed Fearghal O’Loan as Head of Finance and Restructuring and Toby McMurray as Head of Insolvency. “This is in recognition of the work that both Fearghal and Toby have done in their respective areas over the past number of years and is also a move designed to reflect the current market in which we operate and the increased volumes of business in these areas”, commented Ian Coulter, Managing Partner of Tughans. Fearghal O’Loan, who joined Tughans in 2005 from London firm Norton Rose, will be responsible for advising clients prior to encountering financial difficulties in an attempt to avoid the need for a formal restructuring or insolvency scenario taking place. His main premise will be to ensure that clients protect their interests and to turnaround and rescue ailing businesses where possible. This will also involve advice to lenders and directors on their liabilities in relation to the business, creditor arrangements, disposals and alternative funding arrangements. On the finance side, Fearghal will continue to act for both financial institutions and corporate borrowers. His practice includes all forms of secured and unsecured finance and lending. In particular, Fearghal has a broad depth of experience in the areas of asset finance, acquisition and leveraged finance, securitisation, property finance and general corporate lending. As Head of Insolvency, Toby McMurray will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of Tughans’ insolvency matters. Toby will continue to build his reputation as one of Northern Ireland’s foremost insolvency solicitors. He is well regarded for ensuring clients’ interests are always protected should a situation become contentious. Toby joined Tughans in 2005 and is one of the youngest entries in the Chambers UK 2009 Legal Directory being noted as a leader in his field. |
