Tughans was founded back in 1896 and is today Northern Ireland's largest commercial law firm with offices in central Belfast, Derry and Lurgan. The firm currently employs over one hundred and twenty five staff of whom 60 are qualified solicitors.

The firm has six core practice areas:

• corporate law (including IT/IPR Law)
• property law
• litigation
• employment law
• banking and finance
• PFI/PPP

In recent years, the firm has been involved in a number of high-profile corporate transactions. A significant number of instructions are received from other firms principally in the City of London and the United States of America with whom Tughans has, over the years, developed strong links. Consequently the firm is frequently asked to advise on the Northern Ireland aspects of multi-jurisdictional transactions.

Some years ago a formal a formal link was established with William Fry, Solicitors, one of the largest corporate law firms in Dublin, with the aim of providing a quality, seamless legal service to clients and inward investors with business interests in Ireland. Staff from Frys and Tughans often work together on all-Ireland related transactions.

With a client base of local, national and international businesses, our partner-led teams are assembled to meet the specific requirements of the client and often will include staff from differing disciplines from within the firm, particularly where transactions involve complex legal issues.
