Kathy McGillie

Kathy graduated from Queens University, Belfast in 1995 and joined Tughans as an Associate in July 2000. She became a Partner in April 2003. Kathy advises and represents a range of clients including insurance companies, public bodies and companies in relation to professional indemnity, employers' liability, public liability and product liability. In addition, she advises on commercial/contractual disputes and on contentious intellectual property issues.

Kathy has developed and is responsible for the media unit within the firm. She advises and represents clients on a range of issues associated with defamation, privacy and the use of confidential information. She provides pre-publication advice and conducts litigation on behalf of publishers, to include newspapers and internet service providers, as well as public bodies and private individuals. She has been involved in several high profile cases and provides sound, commercially-minded advice to clients both before and in the course of litigation.

More generally, Kathy has a post-graduate certificate in Alternative Dispute Resolution/Mediation.
