Niall is a graduate of Trinity College Dublin, graduating with an honours degree in 2003. He qualified as a solicitor from the Institute of Professional Legal Studies in Belfast in September 2005 and has specialised in employment law since qualification. He joined the Employment Department in Tughans in February 2010.
Niall has provided employment advice in both the private and public sector in relation to contentious and non- contentious matters throughout his career. He advises on all aspects of employment law, including practical assistance for internal HR matters, grievance and disciplinary processes and procedures, employment policies and procedures, compromise agreements, redundancies, drafting, reviewing and amending contracts of employment, restrictive covenants as well as aspects of sales and acquisitions including TUPE and Service Provision Changes.
In terms of contentious matters, Niall advises on all aspects of practice and procedures within the Industrial Tribunal and Fair Employment Tribunals, including unfair dismissal, discrimination, working time, wages, as well as other employment based litigation such as injunctive proceedings.
