Tughans advises b4b Group on its exclusive agreement to partner with Fujitsu on smart border logistics solution

Tughans has advised b4b Group, a leading IT and telecommunications provider on its multi-year exclusive contract with Fujitsu UK & Ireland, a global leader in technology and business solutions, to underpin its smart border solution, Atamai Freight.

The solution enables goods to move seamlessly by verifying the integrity of freight from the point of loading to the point of unloading, using innovative digital technology, including a smart seal, provided by b4b Group, to secure and assure the content of road freight between Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

It follows successful trials of the service with logistics providers including Manfreight and various food manufacturers.

Unifying all the different elements of the supply chain on a single digital platform means businesses can automatically complete complex customs procedures and provide customers with accurate arrival times for goods.

Atamai Freight is being delivered by a consortium that also includes blockchain specialist Ubloquity and supply chain pioneer Entopy.

Commenting on the deal, Mark Fraser, Sales Director, b4b Group said:

“As hauliers and suppliers seek to deliver goods to their customers on time, they are faced with a complicated logistics process. Harnessing the transformative power of digital technology however, through the Atamai Freight platform, we can cut through those complications, facilitating safe, and secure passage for shipments saving both time and money. Tughans were the obvious choice as legal advisor to ensure the partnership with Fujitsu UK & Ireland was seamless, helping us to deliver this revolutionary platform that can dramatically improve operational efficiencies for the movement of goods”.

Commenting on the deal, Andrew Kirke, Contracts Partner at Tughans, said:

“It was great working with Mark Fraser, David Armstrong and the rest of the B4B team to help finalise the collaboration agreements with Fujitsu. The work Fujitsu, B4B and other delivery partners are doing through the Atamai Freight platform looks like a potentially revolutionary development for smart logistics and freight solutions.”
