Chris is a partner within the Real Estate team, who specialises in energy and infrastructure projects.

 

Chris has over 10 years’ experience across early-stage development (including consenting and land assembly), asset management and optimisation (including re-powering), funding and consolidation of energy and infrastructure assets. Chris has advised on some of the most complex pathfinder projects in Northern Ireland across the full range of clean energy technologies, waste, water and transport.

 

Chris is dual-qualified in Northern Ireland and England & Wales.

  • Acting for Heron Energy in relation to the consenting of a portfolio of battery energy storage systems across Northern Ireland (>2,000 MWh) and the sale of a 100MW / 200MWh project to SSE Renewables in 2024.
  • Acting for Translink in relation to Grand Central Station, Belfast (c.£200m) and the transport-led regeneration of Weavers Cross (c.£400m).
  • Advising HM Government (the Department of Business Energy and Industrial Strategy) in relation to energy pricing interventions in Northern Ireland, culminating in the passing of the Energy Prices Act 2022 and instructions to the Office of Parliamentary Counsel in relation to secondary legislation in Northern Ireland.
  • Advising several electric vehicle charge point operators in relation to the roll-out of charging assets across Northern Ireland.
  • Advising Mutual Energy in respect of the £250m extension of the natural gas (high and intermediate pressure) pipeline in Northern Ireland, known as ‘Gas to the West’, including consenting-phase documentation across 253 landowners and Necessary Wayleave hearings at the Department for Economy, Northern Ireland
  • Acting for I Squared Capital during the reported €1bn acquisition of the Viridian Group.
  • The disposal of two of the largest distributed wind portfolios in Northern Ireland (Simple Power / Wind NI).
