Tughans LLP advises MCE on Strategic Sale to Cavendish Consulting

Tughans LLP are pleased to have advised on the sale of MCE, a leading communications consultancy headquartered in Belfast with a recently opened office in Dublin, to UK-based communications consultancy, Cavendish Consulting.

This significant investment solidifies the commitment from Cavendish to providing services to clients operating in both the UK and EU markets, marking a pivotal step in their expansion. The acquisition positions the company on both sides of the border in Ireland’s thriving market, enhancing its ability to serve clients with international interests.

The integration of MCE, who specialises in public affairs, corporate affairs and planning communications significantly broadens the company’s geographic reach, deepens service offerings, and strengthens its position as a leading player in the UK corporate communications landscape.

Paul McErlean, former managing director of MCE, and new Managing Director of Cavendish Ireland said, “Every way I looked at this, I only saw advantage – for our own team and the opportunities it creates; for our clients because of the depth and breadth of the Cavendish offer and for myself and my fellow directors in the months and years to come in helping Cavendish to grow on this island.”

The Tughans team was led by Corporate Partner John McGuckian and Director Aimee Craig with support from Donna Parker (Corporate), Patricia Rooney (Employment) and Fearghal O’Loan (Banking).

Tughans LLP has one of the largest corporate teams in Northern Ireland and is regularly recognised as leaders in the field. Recent successes include recognition as the most active law firm in Northern Ireland for M&A transactions by Experian, for 9 consecutive years.
